Eucryphias for Late Summer Flowering

Eucryphia is a really useful genus of flowering trees and shrubs for a spectacular effect in the garden or arboretum in late summer. The blossom on the Home page shows Eucryphia x nymansensis 'Nymansay', which flowers from mid August through to September and is a medium size columnar evergreen tree. The tree is also shown below (right), to give an idea of the rather stunning white blossom on the evergreen tree. Another slightly smaller form, Eucryphia x intermedia 'Rostrevor', may suit if you wanted to plant a smaller late flowering tree, again with masses of white blossom. Flowering slightly earlier and in the large shrub/small tree category are Eucryphia lucida 'Ballerina' (shown below), which has pale pink scented blossom, and Eucryphia x lucida 'Pink Cloud', which has pink-edged and scented flowers.
