Early Magnolias in Full Flower

Early spring this year is much colder than last year, so everything has been slower to flower. However the blossom season has started and with the boost of the recent very warm weather has meant the early flowering Magnolias are doing their thing and looking gorgeous. Magnolia stellata is always reliable with it’s star shaped scented white blossom, as are it’s hybrids ‘Merril’ (seen on home page) and ‘Leonard Messel’. (The cultivar M. stellata 'Royal Star' is shown below left.) Other later gems to look forward to are the delightful yellow scented cultivars ‘Elizabeth’ (below right) and ‘Gold Star’.
