Hollies for a Seasonal Effect and Structure in the Garden
For a great seasonal effect and good structure in the garden hollies tick many boxes. Ilex aquifolium 'J.C. van Thol' (shown on the previous page) is a good fruiting form with deep green glossy leaves that are virtually spineless, and as a bonus is self fertile. For a holly to provide a pretty tree, try Ilex x altaclarensis 'Belgica Aurea' (see image below taken in January), a conical tree that usually bears a heavy crop of berries. It is one of the most striking golden variegated hollies. If you feel that a holly or two may enhance your garden - either planted as a specimen or as a hedge - come along to the nursery to view our selection and take further advice from our trained staff. Check out our opening times. Note we will be closed from noon December 24th until 8am January 2nd.
